How QPI Is Calculated
Your Quality Point Index (QPI) is calculated using a credit-weighted average formula. Each letter grade you earn corresponds to a numerical grade point (for example, A = 4.0, B+ = 3.5). That grade point is multiplied by the number of units assigned to the course to determine your Quality Points.
Worked Step-by-Step Calculation Example
Suppose you are taking three courses in a semester at Ateneo:
| Course | Grade | Points | Units | Formula | Quality Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Math 10 | A | 4.0 | 3 | 4.0 × 3 | 12.00 |
| CS 21 | B+ | 3.5 | 3 | 3.5 × 3 | 10.50 |
| English 11 | A | 4.0 | 3 | 4.0 × 3 | 12.00 |
| Total Sums | 9 Units | — | 34.50 QP | ||
QPI = 34.50 ÷ 9 = 3.8333... → 3.83
